Terms of Use

Last updated: 20 October 2026

These Terms of Use apply to your access to and use of LocalCut, a free browser-based image background-removal tool. By using the website, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.

1. The service

LocalCut provides a tool designed to remove backgrounds from images in your web browser. The service is currently offered free of charge and may be supported by advertising.

Features, supported file types, file-size limits and processing performance may change as the website develops.

2. Your images and your responsibilities

You are responsible for the images you select and for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions needed to use them. You retain the rights you already hold in your original images.

You must not use LocalCut to:

3. Processing and results

LocalCut is designed to process images locally in your browser. Selected images are not uploaded to LocalCut's servers for background removal as part of the normal workflow.

Results depend on the image, your device, your browser and the processing model. Background removal may be imperfect and can produce missing details, unwanted edges or other errors.

You are responsible for reviewing the result before downloading, sharing, publishing or using it for any purpose. Keep a copy of your original image if you may need it.

4. Intellectual property and licences

The LocalCut source code is published under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3.0 (AGPL-3.0), as indicated in the project's source repository, subject to the terms of that licence.

Third-party libraries, AI models, fonts, logos and other assets may be subject to separate licences or terms. The LocalCut source code licence does not automatically grant rights to third-party materials.

You are responsible for checking that your use of any image or resulting output complies with the rights of others and any applicable licence conditions.

5. Advertising and external services

LocalCut may display advertisements and load resources from third-party providers. External services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

The presence of an advertisement does not mean that LocalCut endorses the advertised product or service. We do not control all content or practices of external websites.

6. Availability and changes

We aim to keep LocalCut available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, compatibility with every device or browser, or that every processing attempt will succeed.

We may update, suspend or discontinue features when reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security or technical reasons.

7. No guarantee of results

To the extent permitted by law, LocalCut is provided on an "as available" basis. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for every purpose.

You should independently check images before relying on them for commercial, professional or other important uses.

8. Liability and consumer rights

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful. Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law, including relevant consumer protection rights.

To the extent permitted by law, LocalCut is not liable for indirect losses arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service. This does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded.

9. Privacy

Your use of LocalCut is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how information may be handled by the website and its third-party services.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the website develops. The latest version will be published on this page with its revision date. Applicable legal rights remain unaffected by these changes.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, where applicable. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you under the law of your place of residence.
